WANT TO DONATE TO 102??
Besides the furniture and school computers, everything in room 102 is funded by Ms. Casey and generous donors. My mom made the curtains, my nieces donated books, my husband donated his iPad, and donors choose donated everything from wobbly chairs to glue sticks! So if you can help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Here is a list of items we need in room 102!
Please join our classroom communication app CLASS DOJO. It is an easy way to see pictures of your student and receive school information. Students earn points for being on task and participating in class. Once they reach 4 points they earn a buddy for the day. Note: do not worry if your student does not reach 4 everyday, some days are just more busy than others!
Each student was given a code that can connect several parents. If you need this code again please email me at email@example.com .
Students will have nightly homework to reinforce math, vocabulary, writing skills, and comprehension. Please review the homework with your student if you can, however I understand that all of our schedules are busy! Best practices recommend 10-20 minutes of homework for first grade.
*SOME HOMEWORK WILL REQUIRE INTERNET ACCESS
Want more homework? If you would like your students to practice more, please have them use the following programs after they finish their written work.
: LexiaCore5 (phonics,) IXL Math,
How Much Is Appropriate?
The National PTA recommendations fall in line with general guidelines suggested by researcher Harris Cooper: 10-20 minutes per night in the first grade, and an additional 10 minutes per grade level thereafter (e.g., 20 minutes for second grade, 120 minutes for twelfth). High school students may sometimes do more, depending on what classes they take (see Review of Educational Research, 2006).
PICK UP TIME: 3 P.M. PLEASE!
As our days get more busy, please make sure to pick your student up at door #2 at 3:00 P.M. If you are running late please call the office so that they may wait safely with the office staff.
TAKE HOME FOLDER & AGENDA
Each student has a take home folder and agenda that they bring to school and home everyday. Their agendas will have their homework and important notes for you to read. The folders contain homework and have important information on both covers.
